Who does not need to rid their home of irresistible bacteria and viruses, especially in the prevailing condition? Some people buy harsh chemical cleaners, but they can do more harm than good. Others try to find the usual antiseptic and sanitizer in pharmacies and stores, but often because of panic, such funds are not in stock. Still, others are learning to make antibacterials for the home on their own.

But in fact, you can destroy bacteria with the help of natural essential oils from viruses.

What antiseptic healthy essential oils can kill bacteria and improve your emotional state? There are enough of them. But rising, a little information about viruses.

How to protect yourself from viruses?

Currently, there are no studies in which a useful tool for controlling coronavirus would found, therefore, while the best way to protect yourself from becoming infected with viral infections that are transmitted by airborne droplets and through objects that could come in contact with the sick person is to take the precautions recommended by WHO (World Health Organization).

According to the WHO, the first line of defense should always be regular and thorough washing of hands, as well as frequent wiping of them and objects that you use most often (telephones, computer mice and keyboards, pens, etc.) with an antiseptic, also, WHO recommends not to touch the eyes, nose, and mouth, not to approach people closer than a meter.

The media is overwhelmed with advice on which tools work and which don't. But if for some reason you cannot or do not want to use pharmacy sanitizers and are interested in using essential oils against viruses as an alternative or an additional line of defense, we will tell you everything you need to know about it.

A bit about viruses

Using essential oils to avoid seasonal flu or coronavirus infection potentially is theoretically possible. But you have to consider that viruses have a life cycle (note that this is a very simplified scheme of a very complicated process):

the virus enters the carrier and binds to cells in the respiratory tract (nose/throat/lungs);

surface proteins of the virus bind to receptors, like a lock and key;

the virus can enter the cell and infect it;

the virus needs a live host for replication. He can live on inorganic objects for more than 24 hours (depending on temperature and moisture and other factors), but in the end, he will die without a master.

Viruses survive longer on hard surfaces such as metal and plastic than on tissues and soft surfaces. The infection can also increase by airborne droplets. All liquids that were sprayed by the virus carrier and landed on the surface can live in the environment, waiting for a specific time to be "taken" and transferred to a new owner.

Again, this is a highly simplified version of the virus life cycle.

How essential oils act on viruses

There are components of various essential oils that have shown to disrupt the life cycle of the virus at different stages. As a result, it may be useful to use a mixture of various essential oils. But you require to use them correctly. Here's how to do it:

1. If you want to disinfect your home, it is better to use essential antiviral oils in a diffuser or humidifier (8-10 drops per diffuser). Just add a few drops of oil or mixture to the water and turn on the appliance. Close the doors and let the humidifier work while the room is empty. Then ventilate the room.

2. You can make a mixture of essential oils thinned in a carrier oil and apply it on the skin throughout the base of the nose, on the pulsating points of the neckline and on the wrists to create constant flat diffusion.

3. As the most comfortable option, you can apply a couple of drops of tea tree oil to the tissue and inhale directly through it (but you need to do this carefully so as not to burn your mucous membranes). You can also apply a few drops to clothes in the chest area and on the sleeves. The third option is to put a couple of drops on a scarf and put it next to the bed at night.

4. Make your cleanser: mix apple cider vinegar with a few drops of essential oil (10 drops of fuel per 100 ml). Then this product can be added to water for mopping.

What you should not do with essential oils:

Do not mix crucial oils with pottery water. Without a diffuser to separate the essential oils, they will get on the surface of the water, and there will be no sense from them. Even more importantly, any water-based product will begin to become infected with microbes in about 24–48 hours, so this is the most straightforward method of using essential oils from viruses.

Do not make home hand sanitizer with essential oils - the concentration of fat that is needed to kill viruses is likely to irritate the skin. Yes, you will find essential oils in gels and hand cleansers in pharmacies, but they will securely formulate. In addition to oils, they still contain a lot of ethanol, other antiseptic components and skin-softening agents like glycerin. And most importantly, they are tested for safety and effectiveness in the destruction of microbes in the laboratory.
