Chris Cross BIOGRAPHY

Chris Cross is a hip-hop duo, active in 1992-1998, and consisting of then-high school students (11 and 12 years old at the time of recording the first release), Chris Kelly and Chris Smith, who performed under the pseudonyms Mac Daddy and Daddy Mac, respectively.

In 1991-92, the then 19-year-old producer Jermaine Dupree found them. He instantly saw the potential, and they signed to Ruffhouse Records. The debut album of the duo Totally Krossed Out sold over 4,000,000 copies in the United States and another 3,000,000 in Canada. The track “Jump” became a national hit, and American youth wore clothes backward for some time, as shown on the album cover. The subsequent release of “Da Bomb,” released in 1993, became platinum, but its success was already much less. The third and last album of the group “Young, Rich & Dangerous,” was released in 1996 and did not even collect “platinum.” Soon the team stopped creative activity.

On May 1, 2013, Chris Kelly died from a drug overdose at home.
