The rising star released his sophomore album earlier this year.

Chicago rapper Juice WRLD (real name Jarad Anthony Higgins) passed away on Sunday daylight, and The New York Times validated that he was declared dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Ill. He was only 21 years old.

The rapper beginning rose to fame off the strength of his singles “All Girls Are the Same” and “Lucid Dreams.” He released his major-label debut, Goodbye & Good Riddance, in 2018 on Interscope Records, and followed up with Death Race For Love beginning this year. The last project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. He also associated with Future in 2018 for the mutual album, WRLD On Drugs.

Outside his mainstream hits, Juice WRLD is known as a skilled freestyler. He produced an hour-long performance on Tim Westwood’s radio program in 2018 and said that he freestyled most of his newest album.

Back in October, the rapper declared that he intended to drop another album before the end of this year.

Juice WRLD joins a growing list of young rappers who have passed away over the past few years, including XXXTENTACION (age 20), Lil Peep (age 21) and Mac Miller (age 26). He gave tribute to Peep and X with the announcement of his Too Soon EP in 2018. He often rapped about death and mortality, and on the song “Legends,” he revealed on thinking like his time on earth was short.
